Doesn’t work with Sony PS3

I paid a fortune for this TV only to find it doesn’t work with the Sony Station 3. A message comes up saying “Mode Not Supported”. I’ve tried everything anyone can recommend but with no luck. So much for an expensive future proof TV.

Super Quality and Features – Sound is ok

I purchased this Samsung to replace a 42 inch generic LCD I purchased about 3 years ago. Although not much bigger than my old one, the quality and features blow the old one away! For starters, the picture quality is the best I have ever seen on any television, period. Colors are rich and detailed, far better than what I expected. I also enjoy the fact that using the remote I can change the picture “type” (movie, dynamic, etc). Even though I generally keep it on “standard”, I like being able to change it if the show does better on a different setting. Equally nice, is that I can use the remote to change the audio “type” (movie, standard, etc). I found using the “movie” audio setting produces the best results. One last nifty thing is the button on the remote that allows me to adjust the image to fit the screen no matter what the actual size of the content is. For example, with a push of the button, I can have it convert 4:3 show into the full width and heigth of the Samsung TV (note, this feature will only work if what you are watching is coming from a source connected to the TV via one of the four HDMI ports the TV has.
For me, I have a Comcast HD DVR, a Western Digital HD TV Live box, a Roku player, and a PS3 connected to the TV, all via HDMI cables. And all work and look super on this set! It comes with a remote, which in my opinion, is the best remote I have ever had. It’s very stylish, has backlighting, buttons are a good size, and fits my hand like a glove.
This unit also has lots of connectivity options: DLNA, Internet, etc. It’s one of the main reasons I upgraded to this television. I have not YET tested these features, as I am about to start redoing my home network from scratch where everything will be wired based networking on a gigabit network.
This unit does have ONE downside – The audio it produces is weak and tinny. It really threw me for a loop, as my old generic tv has superior sound compared to this one. The sound is generated in the back of the set. Scenes with music are just barable, but voice scenes are just bad. So much so, that just a few hours ago, I went out to BestBuy and purchased the Samsung Soundbar system. Man, that made all the difference in the world. Now I have movie theatre sound to go with my top quality video.
So the short of all this is: Top quality picture, handy options, great connectivity, but be prepared to provide a seperate audio solution.

SCAMSUNG – failed after 2 years! What the deuce!

This was my first expensive LCD TV purchase, and am reconsidering ever doing it again. Bought this for $2099.99, worked beautifully for 2 years, then suddenly a long solid black horizontal line across the middle of the screen. Since I was out of the crappy 12 month SAMSUNG warranty, I took it in to my trusted repair guy, who diagnosed the issue as a defective LCD panel. Unfixable (unless you want to spend $1500, when you could simply replace the whole set for less.) Unfixable?? I spent two grand on this thing.
Come to find out SAMSUNG’S (and others’) LCDs and Plasmas are plagued with these sort of issues once you get out of the first year of usage. Not built to last, and SAMSUNG admits as much. My repair guy has trouble staying in business since most of these panel issues are unfixable, and everyone’s been tossing their old CRT sets away in favor of the New Wonderful.
For this kind of money, are you kidding me? Lure you into the HD game by the low prices and beautiful screens, yet SAMSUNG doesn’t stand by the product after 12 months? Let’s see… 12 months, $2099.99… that’s $175/month of guaranteed usage. I guess I should be thankful for anything longer than that? What a scam.

Don’t be fooled by picky reviews

I was in the market for a new TV for over four months, and I had read more reviews then I care to admit at this point. When I had finally settled on a couple of TVs for that final list this Samsung was at the top with a Panasonic Plasma coming in at a close second. One review of this TV had me convinced that gaming on this TV was going to be an extreme hassle. For me at least, gaming has not be effected at all by this TV. I am playing a PS3, connected through an HDMI input, and have the TV on “Game Mode”. There is no significant lag that I had read about. I am playing very detailed orientated games that require precision and I am hitting my marks. So if you are looking for a TV for gaming and are leery about this one, don’t be, it performs maginificently. Apart from gaming, the picture is extremely beautiful. I have not altered the settings drastically, just modified the blur and judder settings for my blu ray movies. There is minimal glare on this TV, but it does not effect your viewing. I only noticed it when my TV was off. I have a small living room with very large windows, so glare was a concern of mine. Also, I should note that I purchased a USED TV off of Amazon’s Warehouse Deals, and though I was extremely nervous of getting a DOA TV, my expectations were far surpassed. The TV claimed to have minor cosmetic damage to the back of the unit, but me nor my neighbors can seem to find any type of scratch anywhere on it. It looks brand new. The shipping was very curteous, calling a day ahead of time to schedule a time and then making sure it turned on when they delivered it. I highly recommend this TV if you have a blu ray player and want an amazing picture. Sound is one issue people have complained about and honestly I have not used the TV’s speakers once since I got it. I have hooked it up to my own home theatre system like most people I am sure will do. You don’t buy a $1400 TV for its speakers. I love great sound, so as far as I am concerned the TV could have come with no speakers. But anyways, it works great and if I have any updates I will be sure to post for anyone curious about this TV.

WARNING!!! SAMSUNG TVs MANUFACTURED USING FAULTY PARTS! DO NOT BUY!!

Would you spend almost $2000 to buy a flat screen TV that lasts just 17 months? Well, that’s what we did when we purchased the predecessor to this model, the Samsung LN46A750. This week the infamous Samsung “capacitor” issue finally manifested itself in our flat screen TV, and the TV just turns itself on and off repeatedly without ever getting any picture. I say infamous, because if you do even a minimum amount of research on Samsung LCD TVs on the internet, you will see that thousands if not 100′s of thousands of Samsung customers have experienced the same problem with almost every model of Samsung LCD TV manufactured in the last 2 years. The problem appears to be that Samsung TVs were manufactured with faulty 10volt capacitors, and this causes the TVs to become inoperable in an average of 15 months. They have never publicly acknowledged the issue, but privately they have admitted the problem with the faulty capacitors. Did they do a recall of the TVs with the faulty part? No, instead of being proactive, they have chosen to wait until frustrated customers call to complain about the problem. In the beginning, they just said sorry, if you’re out of warranty, we know we have a faulty part, but it’s your problem. Finally, on a case-by-case basis some owners are reporting that Samsung is fixing the problem free of charge, even if the TV is out of warranty. Great unless your TV is like ours – definitely a model affected by the faulty part but one month past the so-called production range for which they are providing the free service and replacement.
DO NOT BUY A SAMSUNG TV. Whether or not they have fixed the problem with the faulty capacitors, it’s just NOT worth the potential hassle down the road. If you’re going to invest your money in a nice flat screen, go with a TV that will last longer than 1 year and with a company that has proven they care about their customers and will take a proactive approach to standing behind their products – and that is NOT Samsung.

A great product!

I’m very satisfied with the picture on this tv. Not sure I understand all the hype of the new 3D options available out there… I mean, who is going to wear those silly glasses every time they sit down to watch tv?? The LN46B750 has a beautiful picture, lots of features, and is easy to set up. The only thing that could be improved is the sound quality (poor on most Samsungs). But 90% of the time, my audio system is on with the t.v. with great sound, so it’s not a show stopper. This model is discontinued, but if you can still find one, get it before it’s gone!

240hz is overkill Get a 120hz

my friend got a 120hz 46 inch I got this one. I find that when I turn the 240 hz it actually blurs around moving objects. When I turn it down to what would be the 120hz equivalent it looks great. I find paying the difference to get the 240hz is not worth it.
Also I had to hack the tv by going into the service screen to change the delay on the optical audio out because it was delayed so much it was out of sink with lip movement.

Wondeful TV from Amazon Warehouse – Save money! Buy Amazon!

I have been looking for a TV for a long time. I, like everyone else, compared a couple of TV’s countlessly for hours to see which would be the best for me. I decided to go with the 750 due to the great reviews by CNET and other customers. It was time for me to pick a place to buy it from. I had 2 choices. Amazon or Best Buy. I chose Amazon for the money I would save. I had the item in my carts for months, wanting to get it, but never making the purchase. The only thing I was scared about was the fact that some of the reviews people had DOA TV’s and the hassle for getting a new one seemed dreadful. I decided to go with Warehouse Deals because it saved me another 300. ( make sure you read the comments to see what is wrong with that particular item). My item didn’t say it had anything wrong with it (scratches, scuffs etc). The only thing it said was that a Non-essential Accessory was Missing. I took a gamble on the Warehouse deal and it paid off. I ordered it on 3/09/10. Pilot was my delivery service, which I was upset about because I seen a lot of people complained about them. On the 11th, I seen it had been “Tendered to Carrier” so I decided to give them a call (got a little impatient :3). I called and in less 2 rings I was talking to a real person, who transfered me to the place that just received the TV. We set up a delivery date on 3/12, 4 days before when Amazon said I would get the TV. He gave me a window from 12-1 for delivery. He showed up at 12 on the dot. There was only him for unloading the TV off the truck. I was disappointed not seeing another person help him since the box was literally 5 foot long. I helped him take it in to the house and I signed for it and he left. I took it out of the box, looks BRAND NEW. It seemed to have all the accessories so I don’t know why they put that. This thing was a pain in the patootie putting on the stand by myself but I finally got it. Watching Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs looks STUNNING. The blacks are actually blacks and the white’s are so crisp. Some people said they seen a lag without game mode, I admit there is a little delay from the time you hit the controller to the time it hits the TV, but it’s not too bad and it is completely gone when you play in game mode. Another person said the Auto-Dimming is horrifying. I have never seen it auto-dim once. This TV is perfect!!!!! Going from a 32 inch CRT to this TV is a huge upgrade and I regret putting it off for so long.
Overall, I am VERY happy I took the risk in getting this TV online. It saved me a lot of money and it furthers my trust in amazon purchases. Don’t let a couple of bad reviews deter you from this site. Trust your gut on this one folks, save your money and buy from Amazon!

We’re very pleased with this TV. The only thing I personally would like is that our Dish remote would work with the TV. Within 2 months of buying this TV we saw a big ugly blue line atleast 2 inches wide just off the center. It was coming off and on and was very very frustrating for the big buck we paid for the TV. We had to change the panel which was not a fun thing. Otherwise the picture quality is good.

Excellent

Got this TV after extensive research. A few reasons why I bought it:
- Top of the Line. No panel lottery, etc (got SQ01 version mfg Dec 09).
- 240Hz
- Pinacle of LCD television development, LED TV’s still have many Picture Quality issues, especially in the price range of the TV (i.e. UN46B6000).
- Most excellent Reviews, best PQ of any LCD TV reviewed by CNET.
- Internet connectivity, widgets, work great!
- Amazing picture adjustability.
- Esthetically beautiful.
While there are other 52″ LCD TV’s in the price range, like the LN52B630, while larger, it’s older technology and doesnt have all the features of this TV, its 120Hz and costs about the same.
I do have some negatives to talk about: The remote is not very responsive. The Yahoo widgets also are fairly slow. The glare on the screen can be noticeable.
Overall, if PQ is what matters most, this TV is for you. I love it and for $1399 shipped its a great bang for your buck.
PS Pilot home delivery delivered it 1 day late…

Samsung wigits and B750 series LCD TV

The TV is good but don’t expect it to have a crystal clear picture like store models if you are receiving an analog cable signal. On the other hand DVD movies are awesome with no pixel degeneration in action scenes and blacks are dark enough for me. Sound system is somewhat weak so spend some dollars for at least a sound bar. Wigits are a joke so if you are buying for with the intention of surfing the web you will be very disappointed. If you view a lot of you tube, or rent blockbuster movies (selection is limited) it might have benefit but manipulating the key pad for navigation is awkward at best. I also purchased a wireless network adaptor which works very well and I can share picture files from my computer. You cannot share programs so hence internet access is out. Files from a share folder only! I have not connected a hard drive to the TV to use it as a monitor to see how it performs with steaming content with the computer acting like a server. There may be ways around these short comings but I haven’t had time to play with it. I viewed a lot of different models and Samsung in my opinion has one of the very best picture qualities in this line of any manufacturer.

Samsung LN46B750 is a winner

Very pleased with the LN46B750. We purchased this TV on sale in December during a promotion that included a free Samsung Blu-ray player. Both units work exceptionally well together and Blu-ray movies are absolutely stunning. At times, the picture is surreal looking. No problems with fast motion scenes in movies or sports. Glossy screen was a concern, but it has proven to not be a problem in various lighing conditions ranging from brightly lit incandescent, moderate sunlight from a bank of windows, or viewing in the dark. Not to say there is never any glare in those situations, but it has not been a distraction. Although there is a plethora of settings, I have tweaked the TV very little. I have not seen the need to greatly modify the settings, but there is a wealth of information on the internet for those that choose to do so. Streaming content through a LAN wire has been surprisingly good with Netflix. I haven’t tried the wireless adapter that Samsung sells, so I can not comment on streaming content wirelessly. For anyone with Comcast (I live in northern middle Tennessee as a point of reference), tv viewing has been through a Comcast HD-DVR cable box with picture quality ranging from excellent (HD channels) to average (standard def channels). Depending on strength of signal, there can be slight picture degradation at times, but this is a Comcast issue not the LN46B750. Another positive is the number of component connections available on this TV. Check Samsung’s website for a good picture of the various connections to assist you in planning your home theater set-up or incorporating your existing components. Planning ahead also will help you determine your cable needs prior to set-up. Better to buy cables at a great price on Amazon instead of getting hosed at BB. Now for why I rated the TV 4 stars instead of 5. I really don’t believe a 5 star TV exists, but here are the slight negatives. Remotes is slightly clunky meaning it doesn’t register instantly. There is a slight lag, maybe a second. Internet widgets are slow and the interface is a pain in the you know where. It is similar to the Wii where a graphical keyboard appears on screen. You navigate the keyboard with the arrows of the remote. The widgets themselves are not bad, but the way they are implemented probably needs a model year or two before the concept and ease of application are at the same level. The sound is average, but many reviewers have commented on this before. Treble is crisp and clear. Bass leaves something to be desired. This is realistic based on the size of the speakers, so it didn’t come as a shock. Surround sound speakers or a speaker bar will probably enhance your viewing experience, if that is your preference. I plan to add one of the two in the near future. I hope your find this review helpful. I would definitely recommend this product to a friend or family member.

This item arrived cracked so we refused delivery. Amazon will not issue our refund for another month. Their customer service emails state that they need to inspect the item before issuing refund. Better than the LED 120hz models that cost $600 more

Since this is our first HD TV, I put a lot of time and energy into researching what TV would be the best for our budget. I had managed to scrap together around $1,400 and wanted to get the most that I could for within $100 of that price range.
I kicked a lot of tires in October/November of 2009, debating between buying this Samsung, which was top of its class at the beginning of the year or jumping in to the emerging LED market. A friend who runs a home theater installation company gave me the thumbs up on the B750, but also said that I should also check out the Samsung UN46B6000 46-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV.
The B6000 is 120 Hz versus the 240 Hz for the B750 – and after viewing them side by side, I fully believe that the B750 has better image processing for live-action sports. The B6000 simply wasn’t as smooth and had dropout in comparison.
I got the B750 from a vendor local in SF, and the picture looked a little odd out of the box. The contrast was set way too high, making most shows look fake and staged. I found some image configuration & calibration setups I online, and have loved the picture ever since. We got it just in time for the fall football season, and love it.
Watching one game on the NFL Network I thought the screen looked cluttered and noisy – until I realized it was footprints in the turf that I was seeing so clearly. Bluray Discs look incredible, PS3 games are insane, and HD programming is gorgeous. These are on sale now for amazing prices, and your money is better spent on this than the B6000 – with the money you save you can get a PS3 slim – the best damn Bluray player on the market.

Best LCD right now

I was debating between this and the XBR9 and I’m glad I got this TV. Not only is it $200 cheaper, but the B750 is just better in every way. Colors are brighter/warmer than the XBR9, the 240hz makes watching sports a dream, and even playing video games is not as bad as people make it out to be. I didn’t have any quality control issues, everything worked out of the box and it was easy to setup. People complain about the sound, but honestly it’s not that bad, it’s only bad because the picture is so awesome you wish you had the sound system to go with it.
I LOVE this tv.

This TV is not DLNA enabled even though Samsung claims that

I bought this TV last week. I tried to share my laptop files with TV via DLNA but it didn’t work. I called Samsung support and none of their on call person was able to resolve it. They transferred it to their Tier 2 support and the lady tried to resolve it but couldn’t. She told that someone from Samsung will call after few hrs but nobody called even after one day. I tried to call them again they gave me reference number:2010796743 to track the complain and again told that a product specialist will call within few days. I am fed up of their customer support and going to return this TV tomorrow.

Awesome!

I have had this Samsung 46 inch HDTV for just a little over a month. It is absolutely great! The delivery service took it out of the box, attached the stand and plugged it in. They did not hook it up to the HD satellite box, but thats ok, I wanted to do it myself. It was very easy to set up and configure.
It does not come with an HDMI cable, which you will need in order to realize the full potential of this TV. Don’t just buy any old HDMI cable though. Make sure the package says it supports 1080P resolution and 240hz refresh rate. I got an excellent cable at Wally World for $34.00. (Sony)
This is my first HDTV and I am still amazed at the picture everytime I turn it on. I was going to get the 120hz model, but my wife had a fit about the RED touch of color. And that was all that was available in 120hz. I’m glad she did now. I have watched many different programs, including sports, and there is no blurring.

so far so good

I’ve only had the LN46B750 for about a week, but have been able to run various resolutions of cable TV channels through it [including HD], and am very pleased particularly when using fit-to-screen picture sizing. I ran a DVD of Kill Bill II, that was fine in movie mode, and a blueray of Blade Runner was fantastic (though a bit dark – my fault, need to better adjust my setup).
I’ve also done the internet setup (downloaded my 1st firmware upgrade), and the DLNA setup. The DLNA seems to fail (perhaps with time-outs) I am not sure if my serving PC is too much of a dog, or if one really needs to use an “N” wireless network (for speed) – I’m thinking my little dual-core isn’t fast enough.
I gave this 4 stars since I have a nagging feeling that many less-expensive sets would have suited my needs. I am hoping that the extra cost will be justified in longevity.
PS for peace of mind, you might want a warranty (like squaretrade), and amazon white glove delivery. My ‘free’ Samsung BD-P1600 played a DVD, a blueray, then got hosed all within 24 hours – I have to send it back for service or replacement. If you have a Samsung TV and a Samsung blue ray player, you might want to turn off the function that allows communications via the HDMI cables… that might have been what interfered with and killed my blueray player… again – who knows.

Samsung Warranty – BEWARE!

I will Never buy another Samsung Product again. Why, you ask?
I purchased Samsung TV (LN46A850, not the one shown in the review) 10 months ago (Feb.’09). One of the main reasons I selected this TV was for its wireless LAN ability. Well I’m just now getting around to add this function so I can connect the TV to my wireless network and I find that Samsung does not support this function even though its in the specifications and in the User’s Manual. It requires a wireless LAN adapter (pt# WIS-08BG2X) that is only available from Samsung. Problem: Samsung does not sell this item any longer and there is nowhere else to get one! I attempted to do a warranty claim today and the customer service people tell me its too late, that I should have returned the TV within the first 30 days if I didn’t like it. This TV is still under warranty and Samsung will provide no technical support, no firmware fix, no wireless adapter and no warranty exchange! I’m stuck with this TV that has no wireless capability and Samsung says, “Sorry, can’t help you!” I just wanted to warn anyone what to expect from Samsung in case you are foolish enough to purchase one of their products. I learned the hard way. Samsung, never again!

LN46B750- Not good if you watch with TV with friends

I tested this TV for about 2 months before I finally asked Amazon for my money back. My first had faulty speakers which would cut out and begin to make a loud, repeating beep. My second had an exacerbated problem that is a distinct problem with this model.
Both of my trial televisions had horrendous viewing angles. I sit about 12 feet away from my entertainment center. If I laid down on my couch, the opposing side of the TV would wash out considerably. If I kept this television, I would feel bad about anyone not sitting in the “captain’s chair,” or better known as directly in the middle of the television. On my second television, even if I sat directly in front of the TV, the upper edges of the screen would wash out! I did not find this acceptable for a $1600 television and was the main reason I returned the second set. Once I realized this issue was occuring, I could not “unnotice” it.
Besides the viewing angle, I had a problem with the colors. The greens were almost neon no matter what how I calibrated it. My calibration scheme consisted of the recommendations on a popular audio/video forum. The picture is very bright, the colors “pop” and is probably considered pleasing to the general consumer. I can only take that store brightness for so long.
The menus were excellent, though a little laggy. The included internet functionality is pretty good. The ability to easily customize a ton of video options is welcome. Gaming mode is necessary to avoid gaming lag.
The set I bought and am currently using is the Panasonic TC-P50G10. I am quite pleased with this set. It doesn’t have the “pop,” but is more realistic in terms of color. I got 4 more inches for about $400 less at a local store. I had not considered a plasma due to all perception issues with plasmas with burn-in. These issues aren’t present in the latest plasma sets. For $400 less, its a no brainer and I can’t recommend overpriced LCDs like the Samsung LN46B750 when you have the plasma option. Usually great blacks and a uniform picture anywhere you sit except for extreme angles.

Better 2nd time Around

About a year ago I purchased a LN46650, 120 hz,TV room location, and had a very positive experience-delivery,setup, and installation. I guess because of the economy, I upgraded to a LN46750, 240 hz for the same price (Bedroom location). If you can be patient and persistent, then the price game playing can work to your advantage. I hooked up the direct earthnet cable after almost ending my life in the attic routing. I have a bad taste in my mouth for Samsung driving the price up on their wireless drive.(It’s definitely a gouge.) The firmware needs to be downloaded for the widgets to work. Although slow in response time, it is being used as a secondary source.

I will add a system to it once we move. The internet stuff works fairly well, love watching youtube on there. I have my computer and tv linked together and play all of my audio and video through network. Still fairly new and i haven’t had it long enough to know what it will really do. LOVE IT!

Stunning! Amazing Picture!

Like many others, I researched LCD TV’s for several months. I was originally going to buy when the A850 was nearing the end of it’s run and then the B series came out. Glad I waited. With Amazon’s recent promotion, picking up this TV at 1279 could not be passed up. The picture quality, color accuracy, and contrast levels on this TV are top-notch. Blacks are black, whites are bright white. Others have mentioned the ultra clear screen as being a problem with reflection. As someone with a picture window on the opposite wall of the TV, the glare effect is not noticable with the TV on. Audio is on par for a pair of built it speakers and there is an equalizer to help customize the sound a bit more. I did turn down the Judder effect on the 240hz motion. It’s factory set at 5. I turned it to 0. Only problem I have is with the picture size set to ‘Screen-Fit’, I get a green vertical line on the right edge of the TV. I can use the ‘move’ feature to get rid of it, but it seems to be only temporary. So I use size 16:9 instead and all is well. All in all this was a great purchase that I’m very pleased with. This TV will not disappoint. I’ve had it about a month now and I am still WOW’d by the clarity of the picture, especially during sports like football and basketball. Just buy it, you won’t regret it!

Cheapest Samsung LN46B750 46-Inch 1080p 240 Hz LCD HDTV With Charcoal Grey Touch Of Color

Excellent TV for the most part – Flaky manufacturer, for the most part!

The Good:
- Excellent picture with HD signals and I haven’t even tweaked anything yet.
- Some images do have the 3D picture quality mentioned by another reviewer.
- Has a side input for connecting temporary devices quickly.
- Nice menu systems except for the tedious source select options.
- Good swivel base, although I wish it swiveled another 45 degrees.
- The picture is good and has minimal glare issues even with strong overhead lighting.
- Amazon sells it directly. Buy from Amazon whenever possible. They provide excellent customer service.
The Bad:
- Not sure where the controls for turning the system on and off are, but I know the CIA needs to hire Samsung because they sure know how to keep a secret. Luckily, I use the remote most of the time anyway.
- Some ghosting with non-HD channels, but many picture issues are a function of the cable box or satellite transmission and not the TV. The way to test for this is to play a high quality DVD. If the picture quality is great there, then it may be the cable/satellite or its connections that is the problem. However, some LCDs seem to do a better job with non-HD broadcasts.
Can ask your cable company to help set up your TV to maximize picture quality for broadcasts that are not at 1080 resolution.
- Picture is not as clear for regular channels as it was with a standard TV.
- Too tedious and slow to change input sources. Would have appreciated if the TV auto sensed when a DVR was set to play and automatically switched to it. Similarly, stopping the DVR should return the picture to the TV source. This is how a 15 year old TV I have works and I expected something similar with a current LCD TV. Granted, the LCD allows many more sources (DVR, PC, Blue-Ray), but the LCD should be able to automatically switch back to whichever one was playing before you set the current one to play.
- Average sound, but this was expected and I plan to play sound through a real sound system anyway.
- Slow to change channels, although I’m not sure how much the cable box has to do with this or the fact that digital systems are slower at this kind of thing.
- Poor Samsung customer service. A relative had a B630 (matte screen) which wouldn’t come on sometimes and had other picture issues. Called Samsung customer service. Said they would arrange a service call and someone would be getting back to me. By the time they got back to them a week later, we had already arranged to return the system and purchase something else.
Can’t review the Internet widgets and capabilities included in this system as I don’t use them. I use my PC for that. Similarly, I don’t see much difference with the 240 Hz feature, but I haven’t tested it enough to review it.
Have it connected with HDMI cables to the cable box and component cables for my DVD. Before buying HDMI cables, check with your cable company to ensure their cable box has HDMI outputs.
Get a 3 year extended warranty from Square Trade (the unit comes with a one year warranty and Square Trade extends it 2 more years), as Samsung seems a little flaky to deal with despite manufacturing an excellent LCD TV.

Samsung LN46B750 vs LN46A750

Like others I have read about, the LN46A750 lasted for 3 months beyond the 12 month warranty but I liked it up to that point so I ordered the LN46B750. Good sound and great picture with lots of features to figure out for someone that is not very savy with new electronics items. Decided to get the extended 3 year warranty from Samsung to make sure that I didn’t have to pay $300 for a new power supply after one year with new TV. Now Samsung won’t even send me a hard copy of the warranty extension. They make a nice SHORT TERM product but their customer service SUCKS! I wouldn’t buy this item from any vendor that didn’t have a good return policy like Amazon. Amazon has helped a lot up to this point.

Blur and judder reduction option

I have the 46 inch version of the tv and it is well worth it. In the past,2 years ago, I tried to get an 40 inch samsung 60Hz lcd tv before. But ended up returning it because I was able to see the lag in pictures. So after 2 years of waiting I got this tv. At first the picture look so good and clear that it looks fake and it also seemed like the people’s movement were wierd. Hard to explain but it was irritating. So I had to adjust that by putting raising the Blur Recution to 9 and lowering the judder reduction to 1. Now it looks like a regular tv and perfect, at least to me.
I went to a friend’s house and he had the older model 46 inch 750 samsung with the red bazel and 120hz. It looked like my tv before I adjusted the blur reduction and judder. It didn’t have the option to customize judder and blur. So I didn’t really like his tv because of the wierd fake look. I guess the option really makes a difference.

Outstanding Picture and Value!

I researched this model and other Samsung models for the past year. When the B series was released I knew that this was the one for me. I compared the LN46B750 ($1279) to the UN46B8000 ($1850-$2299 range) and really couldn’t see much difference in them except for thickness and price. I asked several sales reps at the big box stores to explain the advantage of the LED Vs the LCD model and all they said was thickness, weight, power consumption and price. Hmmm, oh they did say that I would have bragging rights to say that I had an LED TV if I purchased the 8000. When I questioned about the 150,000:1 Vs 5,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio they all said that there is really no “industry standard” so the manufacturers can claim any amount they want. Nuf said, after a little more research (and taking the wife to look at them in the stores – IMPORTANT STEP DON’T SKIP IT!) we decided to buy the LN46B750 and I’m glad I did. I purchased our TV at Amazon with $150 off promotion and free shipping via CEVA – GREAT VALUE! The TV arrived early and the delivery service was a nice benefit too. By the way, we like to support our local community so I tried to get Best Buy to match or come close to Amazon’s price at two stores. One tried by taking $60 off their sales price and the other flat said NO! Even with the $60 off we would have paid $240 more at Best Buy than at Amazon. I was very hesitant to buy something this large and price online but glad I did!
The picture quality is near perfect after some calibration – factory default settings are not the best. Without calibration you will have milky bleed-over from white to black scenes. The factory settings are just too “hot” for the most part. Some of the “tweaking” took some time though. The manual could have been written better and larger print. I did some research online to determine how to calibrate the unit to obtain what I think is the best picture. [...] . Don’t worry about buying those blue glasses from THX to calibrate your set’s color and tint. The LN46B750 has a Blue Screen feature built in to do that – THAT’S AWESOME! Remember you really need HD input to get the sharpest picture but that’s true with any flatscreen. Take the time to calibrate your set…you’ll be glad you did. By the way, Best Buy will try to upsell you to have their Geek Squad calibrate your TV for you for around $300+.
Best Settings for us:
Mode ~ Natural (The ‘Standard’ setting will give you more options-check it out too)
Backlight ~ 9
Contrast ~ 83
Brightness ~ 47
Sharpness ~ 25
Color ~ 48
Tint ~ G50/R50
The 240hz options are a little confusing. The manual simply says what the on-screen info says and doesn’t explain why you would want to adjust it. I use the “Standard” setting and with fast action shows, football games, etc. it’s awesome.
My set is in a fairly bright room with large windows and the picture quality is great. The shiny screen does reflect light so if you happen to sit where you can see reflections simply adjust the window blinds a little, dim the lights, etc…no problem.
Another reviewer mentioned “a thin flickering white/silver line that would flicker on top of the screen right under the bezel during many dark scenes. It was not too noticeable, but enough to become a slight nuisance. This was really obvious on dark knight, and also the Planet Earth bluray during the immersive underwater scenes.’ This can be remedied by simply using the “Screen Fit” feature and adjust the pictue up slightly. To me this an awesome way to “Tweak” your set to accomodate various inputs of picture quality.
Some have complained about the qualify of the audio. I calibrated the equalizer and the sound is very good…as good or better than my old RCA 32″ CRT set. And when using my surround sound the movies sound great anyway. I did notice though that the units in the store were set to the factory default with is “flat-line ~ mid range” on all setting for the equalizer. So don’t be discouraged when you check that out at the stores. We tested the Samsung and Sony side by side on audio quality while at Best Buy and got discouraged until we realized that the Samsung’s equalizer had not been calibrated but the Sony’s had. Perhaps Samsung should consider a demo setting to give more range for the audio for the stores.
The remote is 100% backlit and has a nice glossy finish that fits well in an adult hand. It is very user friendly and the adjustment/tools menu’s are also user friendly. The only negative that I’ve found with it is the buttons are somewhat difficult to press. The remote would not be good for someone with small or weak hands/fingers. Senior adults and small children may struggle with the remote.
TV demensions shown are spot on. Fortunately for us since our cabinet required the exact demensions of the LN46B750 model. Viewing angle is not a problem at all. We sit about 8-10 feet from the screen and range from straight on (90 degrees) to about 70 degrees off center or 140 degrees viewing angle. At 70 degrees you notice a little washout but very tolerable and should be expected on LCD’s.
We use HDMI inputs and Optical Audio out. All worked great. We’ve not tried the Widget’s feature yet – working on a wireless LAN to connect to the Internet. Always more to buy! But that part of the fun. Nor have we tried the Game mode – not much need for that in our home.
All in all, I highly recommend this product!

I LOVE this TV

I intentionally held off writing this review until I had used the TV for a while. After having the TV installed for about 5 weeks now I feel comfortable in reviewing the product.
Simply put it rocks. The picture quality is superb. The interface is relatively easy to use.
Pros:
1. Picture quality is amazing. The fastest most demanding sports, and action scenes are flawless.
2. No “wasted space” There is very little “casing” around the TV. No bulky speakers on the side etc.
3. Digital Tuner will likely give you a lot more channels with no adapter or cable box. You still won’t get all of your premium channels but you will get more than just the analog tier. (note that I don’t use this as my primary input for TV viewing only for the PIP functionality).
Cons:
1. No single button for PIP. Makes it difficult/impossible to get to PIP from a Harmony remote.
2. The Yahoo Widget gallery is slow. Painfully slow. Slow to the point that every time you access it it takes 2-3 minutes.
3. The Automotion Plus is a matter of taste. You may love it or you may hate it. I ended up turning it off as it makes people in regular TV shows seem “hyper real”. I don’t know how else to describe it. It almost seems like they are cutouts layered on top of the background. I know that describes it poorly but you really have to see it to understand it.
Can’t comment on:
1. Speaker quality- Never used them never will. Everything runs through my sound system.

King of the non-LED 46″ LCDs

I did about two months worth of looking and research to find the right set and the right deal. This TV is in a dedicated media room in my new home. I purchased this TV through Amazon back in August with an amazing coupon deal. I also considered competing models from Sony, LG, Toshiba and Sharp, as well as the Samsung 550 and 650 versions in this size. To my eyes, the Samsung models have deeper blacks and better contrast in well-lit rooms as well as in darker, home theater rooms. To be fair, I also believe the Sony sets have better color saturation and better standard def processing. Additionally, the Sony sets do not have the glossy panel that the Samsung 650 and 750 models use. And let me get this out of the way: The panel on this set (750) is plenty glossy and will reflect light. If you intend to place this set in, say, a family room with lots of natural light as well as lights from a kitchen, breakfast or dining area, I would not recommend this set. The panel does have some sort anti-reflective layer, supposedly, but I think there are limits to how much reflection it can really diffuse. At the very least, if you aren’t sure, make sure you hold onto your receipt and the packaging that the set came in should you decide that there’s too much reflection on the glass for you. It’s not a problem for me, but I can certainly see where this can create problems for others. The glossy panel issue aside, this is a terrific TV. I truly believe that this LCD set gives you the most plasma-like picture of any traditional LCD TV on the market. If you want plasma blacks and contrast in a lighter, more energy-efficient package for your home theater, the Samsung LN46B750 is worth a look and, in my mind, worth the slightly higher price of entry. The newer, back-lit LED models from Samsung, LG, Toshiba and Sharp may provide the same or slightly better picture quality, but I honestly don’t believe the added price of those sets is worth the marginal improvements that they may deliver. I have played around some with the 240hz motion processing on this Samsung, but I don’t really dig the cloudy, soap-opera effect that this technology tends to create. I generally leave it off. I also have not played around with the online widgets that this set comes loaded with. I suppose they are nice to have, but I didn’t buy this TV for the widgets. I watch a lot of football on this TV and the picture has never disappointed, but I really feel like this set shines with movies and similar theatrical content. Get yourself a Blu-Ray player and a decent surround sound system with this TV and you may never leave your house. Seriously. Last thing I’ll say is that this TV provides you with a lot of picture control that you don’t get elsewhere – particularly the separate blur reduction and judder settings for motion processing. If you love to tweak picture settings for different kinds of lighting situations and/or content, then this set is for you.

Magnificent!

This is an outstanding television! I have to admit, I was dragging my feet even entering the HDTV market, as I am a “reverse snob” and don’t like to admit how important TV is in our lives: “What, spend hundreds of dollars on such a passive form of entertainment? Surely our OLD televisions are just fine.” Sniff, sniff.
Well, I’m eating crow and happy to be doing so! One day a few months ago, I got off my high horse and admitted just HOW much pleasure our family gets from TV shows like “Mad Men” or “Fringe” or “Amazing Race” and how enthralled my daughters have been with big box sets of gorgeous shows like “Planet Earth”…or how we like to watch documentaries and dramas from Netflix nearly every weekend, together, and, really, we AREN’T going to become illiterate slobs JUST because we have a good television set…
The time had come to get something that could take advantage of all the wonderful advances in technology (Blueray, Netflix, high def programming) and so I started researching LCD TV’s.
After much online searching, after review after review, after looking at actual sets in the stores, I settled on this Samsung–with some degree of trepidation, as it cost nearly three times the price of our last set. We’ve had it about a month, now, and we are ABSOLUTELY THRILLED: the picture quality is stunning–especially for travel and nature shows–and the set just works beautifully. My daughter–a gamer–was astounded to discover entire aspects of her favorite PS3 games (details, scenes, artistic fonts, etc.) that hadn’t been translating onto our old Sony crt TV, at all. The television even looks gorgeous when it’s not turned on, and doesn’t seem as massive and attention-grabbing as our looming, extraordinarily heavy Sony Triniton, despite having a screen nearly twice as large. No other lcd hdtv I’ve seen begins to compare with the extraordinary detail, sharpness, and overall LIFELIKE quality of the images that Samsung managed to produce.
Just this week, I got my latest issue of PC World magazine, and was pleased–but not the least surprised–to discover that they had rated this model as absolutely TOPS in its class (Lcd hdtv’s over 40″) AND also listed it as #10 in their rundown of “Top 100 Technological Products of 2009″ as well.

Review For Two 46″ Samsungs

Although I planned on purchasing only one of these, due to a failure of an older Plasma, I purchased a second one of the identical TV. We could not be more pleased with these LCD’s. One of these is hung over a fireplace in a brightly lit room (20′ ceiling with lots of windows) and the image is flawless even at mid day. The other is in a smaller room (14 x 14) and provides a true theatre experience because it is so large in the small room but IMO is not too large (not sure my wife would agree with this statement). I have it mounted on the top of a 6′ cabinet and it works out perfectly. Many have mentioned that the field of vision is not ideal unless you are looking straight on at the TV but I have not found that an issue. With both installations, you have to look up to the TV and no one has made a negative comment. In the small room I use the internal speaker of the TV and it is adequate at best. On the one in the larger room, i have the Bose center channel speaker on a surround sound system and it is a very nice installation. Could not be more pleased with these purchases.
I call BS on the complaints of the prior two reviews about the $500 repair and the financing issue. Have been a long term customer of Amazon and never had a problem and cannot imagine Samsung abandoning a customer with a manufacturing defect in the TV.

Good luck getting service when this TV turns out defective

I purchased this TV from Samsung 3 months ago, and it had issues from the start: the audio output only channelled sound to one external speaker. Apparently this is a common problem. They should have recalled the TV. Next, the video input from HD cable became defective. So, there was no HD picture coming through from my calbe box. Now, I had paid $2000 for the TV, extra $ for HD cable, and I am getting subpar, blurry TV. Hmmm. By this time, The Amazon 30 day warrantee had expired. Samsung folks are really nice on the phone, but in terms of getting service repair-men out to fix your TV. . . lets just say, they are suboptimal. I was assigned to 4 different repair companies before I realized, no one will fix this defective issue. Very frustrated. Very angry. Will never buy a Samsung product again.

Don’t believe Amozon about financing offers!

This review is not about the TV which is great. It’s to expose their fraudulent finance offers. One of the selling points for me was their 24 month no interest financing offer.THEY NEVER HONORED THAT OFFER!After I ordered the TV I started receiving e-mails from Amazon to the effect that my order was canceled. When I called to inquire why they said my Amazon store card was stolen.I told them this was impossible as I had not received it yet!I applied for it the same time I purchased the TV.I had to reapply for another card. This put me passed the deadline for the financing offer.By the way it took at lest an hour to get that straightened out as I keep getting passed back and forth between Amazon customer service and the credit department.Neither department wanted to take responsibility.I then confirmed with the representative that I would still get the same financing offer. To which she agreed.
When I received my first bill there was a finance charge.I called and the rep said it would be corrected and credited. It was not.I had another finance charge on my next statement.I then called GE who is a separate entity and does the financing for Amazon.I was told that they didn’t offer a 24 month no interest financing. He offered me a 18 month no interest financing.I decided this would be the best offer I could get so I took it.I’m just waiting to see if that will actually be honored!
Bottom line.Amazon can not legally make any financing offer as they don’t have a credit department.TV’s purchased on credit from Amazon are financed through GE.

My wife and I are extremely pleased with our new TV. The price was well under any local prices that we shopped. With the year and no interest payback, it was a perfect time to upgrade. The picture is amazing! The only thing we don`t like is having to by the Samsung $80.00 part so that it can be wireless and online.

Great Picture

I checked out many different 46″ TV’s and I found this to have the best picture of the bunch. Picture was great out the box and some of the other reviews may have been to critical of the picture quality. The blacks were black and the reds clear. The instructions were a little confusing and switching between modes was confusing.

I am very satisified with my purchase. The picture quality is great, the setup was very easy and it looks nice hanging on my wall. My only complaint is that the sound quality from the B750 is just okay, so I guess my next purchase will be a suround sound system or perhaps a soundbar system to avoid the wires.
Overall, I’m really happy with my purchase

Almost perfect! 8)

This is ALMOST the world’s greatest TV. Truly. I upgraded from an HD-ready Olevia and when I first turned on the Samsung I literally couldn’t believe my eyes. What a picture!! I did tweak the color and sound settings, which is easy to do. If you buy one of the Samsung blu-ray players that includes the wireless LAN dongle than you can use it with the TV, too; firmware upgrades are a snap using your wireless network. And Blu-ray movies on this TV are even more amazing than watching HD TV shows on it. Standard TV shows look great, too, but you’ll notice some blur during action scenes/events. I was really hoping to be able to get rid of my cable box/remote but this TV does not have a CABLE-Card slot — if it did, it would be the perfect TV! The sound is only passable, but now that I have it hooked up to the Samsung HT-BD3252 home theater system (it rocks!!) the sound is amazing. I may never go to a movie theatre again! 8)

Samsung & Amazon rocks

I had a 2004 Toshiba 32″ flat screen digital/HD ready TV w/one big-ass cathode ray tube in it. Actually a great picture, that took the digital signal when it was finally available and HD channels were great although the screen ratio was traditional 4:3. And the thing must have weighed 200 lbs. It gradually developed a power hum that i couldn’t get rid of.
I started researching LED, LCD and Plasma TV’s and ran around to Best Buy, HH Gregg, and even Costco to compare prices and other models. The Samsung LN46B750 listed at about $2200 at BestBuy and the best price they had was about $1800. Considering Amazon offered free shipping and no sales tax for about $1600 made the BestBuy salesman say “We can’t beat that” ..even though they say they will beat any store price, they mean brick and mortar; not internet like Amazon. My Choice was easy.
The only glitch was Amazon glitched my phone #, so they “couldn’t contact me” (like they didn’t have my e-mail?) when it had arrived in my city (Nashville) so i had to call them after a few days had passed the estimated delivery time, and I had to pick it up on the weekend on my own at the delivery hub (because i couldn’t wait til Monday) and set it up myself. The TV is amazing, however, and the price was the best i could find anywhere. I am totally happy with the TV but a little disgruntled w/Amazon/(ultimately the delivery service – but i blame Amazon since they transposed the number wrong to begin with) in not alerting me that my TV was in town awaiting delivery instructions.Samsung LN46B750 46-Inch 1080p 240Hz LCD HDTV with Charcoal Grey Touch of Color

Nice TV

This is my 1st LCD flat screen anything and the quality is superb. I love how the DLNA interacts with my PC being able to pull stored photos or videos to the set wirelessly. I did purchase the WiFi adaptor seperately. The Yahoo Gadgets need to be disversified and it looks like they’re working on that slowly. I cannot say I have too many complaints with my purchase, I wish I would be able to stream video from Netflix without purchasing another gadget.
Totally worth the $$…

Good TV with some noticeable issues

I used to own last year’s model A850 (slim LCD) which was an amazing TV but had two major issues: TOC Separation (Which did it for me) and clouding and flashlighting. Samsung replaced my A850 with a new B750 last month (in warranty exchange) and my experience with the new TV is mixed at best.
First up, the good things that I liked about this TV (obviously I’ll be comparing it against A850).. The screen uniformity is probably the best I’ve seen for an LCD TV and so thinks Cnet and other reviewers. The black levels on this TV are awesome and it now supports a lot more video formats (played from USB port or DLNA) than last year’s models. It does have 240 Hz which I am not sure is huge thing ‘coz I could never notice any difference compared to 120Hz A850, but the software now supports independent blur and judder control which I think is awesome. Also, using the Game mode doesn’t grey out as many controls as the last year’s models and 2 ms response time gotta be a good thing right? Grey TOC is so subtle you could barely notice there’s any TOC so that could be a huge plus for a lot of people (but personally, I could care less, I mean I liked the red TOC on A850)… so that sums up a lot of positives about this TV. If not for the following negatives, this would have been an almost perfect TV.
Now for the negatives, which is almost driving me crazy at the moment… The viewing angles have definitely taken a hit on this TV compared to A850. I can get the best picture (which is considerably better than A850) from only one seat in my room, and that’s right opposite to the samsung logo on the TV, once you are off center, you can see the picture on the opposite side is slowly washing away.. the best way to notice this is to put up a really dark screen and keep moving away from center and you can see blue shade instead of black on the opposite side of the TV. The surprising thing is that this happens even when I am seated on either side of my 3 seater couch which is right opposite to the TV
…I don’t mean to say that the picture looks like a photo film negative from off angles (like on some dell laptop screens) but you can definitely notice the washing out.
The second and probably the most affecting (to me) is that it emits a lot of stray IR which interferes with my Tivo HD and makes my Dish DVR 722K absolutely unusable with IR remote when the TV is on. I have heard of similar stories with AT&T U-Verse set top boxes. So if you own any of these devices, be prepared to go back to 70s era like walking up to the box to change channels, or buy yourself a UHF alternative… Samsung said it’s repairable but I am still having difficulty getting it repaired.. maybe I’ll have to replace it again
And in case you are wondering, why I didn’t talk about the TV@Internet yahoo! widgets thingy… it’s best kept that way… they are slow as hell and practically unusable unless you got patience levels of Mahatma Gandhi…. that doesn’t come under negatives for me ‘coz it’s comparable to the original samsung widgets on A850, but they now offer more useful widgets like twitter and youtube.. if only they were a little more responsive, that would have definitely ended up high on the positives.
So overall, if you don’t have the devices like Tivo HD or Dish DVR (with IR remote) and are not so worried about off angle viewing, this is definitely an awesome TV to suggest.. but if you are like me, then weigh your options.

Purchase Samsung LN46B750 46-Inch 1080p 240 Hz LCD HDTV With Charcoal Grey Touch Of Color

Great TV, but a bit too much & pricey

I purchased this TV after much deliberation around size (40-50″) and type (Plasma or LCD), knowing I wanted to get a nice HDTV. This was my first HDTV, so walking into BB and comparing Plasmas and LCD’s was quite intriguing – I found that I liked the sharpness and brightness of the LCD’s and was able to get this 750B and a great price from Amazon. First night watching some HD channels, the “soap opera” effect immediately became noticeable – after some reading (CNET review) I adjusted the judder/blur to basically lower the 240hz interpolation and (for the most part) the “cartoon effect” was gone. I did not notice any motion blur with sports or movies, but began to realize TV was quite bright, not absolute “black”, and a bit smaller than I would have liked. The sound is poor out of the box, but is adjustable to a point where it is OK. Did a bit more research and decided to move to 50″ Samsung Plasma. Contacted Amazon to arrange for a return, (I saved ALL packaging), and they very graciously and efficiently made arrangements, Pilot was generally good with delivery and pickup. Overall I am pleased with my Amazon experience, and am waiting for the Samsung 50b650 series to be re-stocked – a lower price TV with better PQ. Don’t get me wrong – this is a GREAT TV, especially for an LCD, but I’m learning and the new Plasmas are quite impressive.

Will not buy another Samsung

We brought our Samsung less than 2 years ago and it is already broken. The estimate for repair is almost $900, needless to say we are buying a new tv and it will not be a Samsung. Customer support was not helpful and have given us no compensation. If you do buy a Samsung buy an extended warranty as there is no quality control and the tv could stop working at any time.

A very satisfied purchase

I’m writing this review based on my personal experience.
I initially bought a UN46B8000 because of 40% less power consumption and the cool look. At the store, I’ve compared UN46B8000 and LN46B750 side by side. LN46B750 had a natural white(white that is easy on eyes) compared to UN46B8000. When you buy printer papers, you will notice difference in whites. Some white colors feel warmer than others. That is one thing I noticed. Yes, the contrast ratio of the 8000 much higher than 750. I was not convinced 8000 had a better picture quality than 750. However, I went home with 8000. That night, I watched a movie with lights off. I noticed the edges are very slightly brighter than the center. It started annoying me. The remote controller’s Left, right, up, and down responded with 1 sec delay. I wasn’t going to hung my TV on the wall. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think edge lit back light will turn off the dark areas darker, unlike Local LED back light. I read some reviews that 750 has better uniformity than UNB7000. So, I returned 8000 for 750. Still 14% less energy consumption. I personally think the black looks darker. The edge of LCD is visibly darker than 8000. More video connection. “Plug and Play” Divx movie also works on 750. Oh yeah,, Did I mention the Remote controller works much much better than 8000? The store I went to had a Promotion, and they gave me a free Samsung BR Player. I refunded $400. I’m very happy with 750.

Top notch display!

I gave this TV 5 stars because despite minor issues, it is an amazing piece of equipment.
Just to get the bad stuff out of the way: Obviously it’s very expensive. In line with most other high end LCD sets, but still pricey. The viewing angles are very poor. The contrast drops off rapidly as you sit further off-center, although the overall picture quality is so good that most guests or family members will not notice this issue even when sitting at extreme angles. Certain picture and input modes disable various useful image adjustments. This is somewhat annoying to someone who loves to tweak everything to perfection. For example, PC mode removes some of the image presets, said presets sometimes disable certain processing features, game mode doesn’t allow you to use warmer color temperatures, etc. Overall there is enough adjustment to get great PQ with any source, it’s just annoying having to guess which input or preset mode is going to disable certain adjustments. Depending on your viewing conditions, the semi-gloss screen might be troublesome, as it reflects direct lighting a lot, but I have not had any issues as long as I don’t have a lamp shining directly on the screen.
Now on to the great: everything else. This is arguably the best looking CCFL LCD set on the market, both in terms of image quality and aesthetics. The black/clear bezel with grey touch of color looks simple and high class. When properly adjusted, images look breathtaking. The AMP processing is fully adjustable with sliders(and blur and dejudder are independent!) to suit whatever needs you have. High deblur/low dejudder is excellent for most movies and sports, eliminating almost all ghosting and motion blur effects, while turning up dejudder makes CGI movies and cartoons seem to come to life(although dejudder makes live action content have that hd-cam “soap opera” effect). The brightness and contrast is excellent compared to most lcds, and the colors are incredibly vivid. As usual with Samsung, the menu options are so extensive and well organized that calibrating this display properly is very easy. There’s a multitude of inputs and setup is incredibly easy. I had no issues connecting every device to my display including my home network. It recognized everything instantly. The internet widgets are a novel idea, but not very useful in practice.
Overall this is one of the best LCDs on the market, and if you can find a good price for a few hundred below MSRP, it is a great buy.

Cheap Samsung LN46B750 46-Inch 1080p 240 Hz LCD HDTV With Charcoal Grey Touch Of Color

Excellent LCD, but Samsung needs to work on a few things…

As others have said, this TV is excellent. Forget the marketing talk of 150,000:1 contrast ratio etc. All you need to know is that as of August, 2009, there are very few TVs that beat this set in terms of black level. (local dimming LED LCD TVs, and a few high-end plasmas to be precise, and even then – only just!).
I’m going to focus more on what the issues are with this TV, bearing in mind that I think this is an excellent set.
1.) Gaming lag. For those that say there isn’t any – your standards may not be high enough. With Game Mode set to OFF, Call of Duty, Rock Band, Hot Shots Golf etc are simply unplayable. With Game Mode set to ON, these games are quite playable. How acceptable is very dependent on the person. I have no trouble, personally, with Game Mode ON, but Game Mode off was a nightmare. You lose the benefits of 240hz AMP with Game Mode ON, but this is a VERY acceptable trade-off, and I have no trouble playing games in an essential 60hz mode.
2.) Viewing angles. They’re NOT very good. At a little less than 10 feet away from my 46″ B750, the left side of my TV washes out if I scoot a little to the right, and the right side washes out if I scoot a little to the left of the TV. This is a definite issue, and is worse than my last year’s Samsung LN46A650. At Best Buy etc you will NOT see these defects as the ambient light overpowers any viewing angle discrepancies. At home, in a dimly-lit movie room, or showing darker material, these problems will become more apparent – glaring in fact.
3.) Clouding/flashlighting: This has been an issue for several generations of Samsung LCDs, and 2009 is no exception. Again, this is not something you’ll notice in a storefront because the lighting overpowers the problem, but at home, back in that very same dimly-lit room, especially showing darker material, you’ll notice the splotches of lighter colored areas on the screen. Some are worse than others. If you never watch TV in a darker environment with dark material, chances are you’ll never notice the problem. If your TV was delivered, like most people’s sets are, during the day, you will NOT see this issue until night closes in.
4.) While the see-through TV stand stalk is very pretty and gives the impression of a “floating” TV, it makes hiding the power cable and video/audio cables impossible, as they are normally hidden by a solid stalk. So yes, very pretty, but non-functional, as you can see the cables trailing down behind the see-through stem. A little annoying!
—-
I know this sounds like doom and gloom, but it really isn’t. This is an excellent set. I love mine. Definitely the best CCFL LCD Samsung has put out to date, but still in need of a bit of work on their quality control. I simply won’t defend something just because I bought it – this is a great TV, but it does have some problems that Samsung should work hard to overcome.

First HDTV Exceeded my expectations

I did a lot of reading, a lot of almost made decisions and a lot of re-reading before I finally decided to pick this TV for my first HDTV. This actually turned out to be a really great time to take the plunge into HDTV Land because they have progressed passed 60Mhz and LED LCD TVs just came out which reduced the price of regular LCD TVs. I do not like being the early adopter of anything though I must admit the LED TVs were tempting. What made me decide to buy this TV despite reading some reviews that almost scared me into not buying was the following:
- The picture quality is not much different than the LED cousin and MUCH cheaper
- Black Rating of this 240Mhz model (LN46B650) is rated MUCH higher than the 120Mhz model (LN46B750)
- Dynamic Contrast ratio of the 240Mhz model is 150000:1 versus the 120Mhz’s 100000:1
- 2ms response time – which is great for gaming
- Off Angle Viewing – I bought this TV to host UFC Fights and Football so I expect friends at non-optimal angles
((( Picture Quality ))) – It really is amazing. I did not think I’d see this level of quality increase in movies until I went all out and went to BluRay and the best cables. It is not just better detail in seeing all the details on people’s faces, it provides a completely different feel to movies …and I am only playing regular DVDs off my Xbox 360. Now I will say, first movie it almost had a Soap Opera feel, but when I dial in settings to go back to what I’m used to I actually end up missing the “Standard” mode which the TV comes delivered as. If you don’t like the ultra-realistic feel that Standard mode provides the CNET review of the LN46B750 has decent settings that will get you closer to what you may be used to. That is another huge bonus I must say current TVs provide …older TV settings almost seemed to make very little difference. But for those who like tinkering with stuff current TV settings provide real changes to achieve the effect you want. Standard satellite/cable TV is still standard viewing fare – minor improvement so if that’s all you watch than its not worth going HDTV if your current TV is just fine.
For those who want something that works out of the box – factory settings are great.
Some say the off angle is horrid …are these people serious? If you are worried about this, go to a store and view this for yourself as it is the only way to be sure if this will be a problem for you or not. I cannot knock the off angle viewing. I haven’t seen many (if any) TV handle off angle viewing better than this TV. I can clearly see the picture with minimal grey effect even at a 20 percent angle …which I don’t understand why anyone would even want to sit at this angle anyway, but whatever…
((( Movies ))) – Awesome. See Picture Quality. I personally prefer the Standard setting even if it has that hyper realistic view. On my old Sony Trinitron, which I still think is a good TV …other than its insane weight, movies looked no where near this good. For example on Transformers, when the Predator is taking battle field pictures they are kind of hard to discern and the transformers moved a little too quick to really see what they look like. On this Samsung, those battle field pictures were clear as all get out and I could see each piece of metal that moved on the robots. Seeing those A-10s and that AC-130H in HD glory was Beautimus!
The second movie I had to try was Equilibrium because it WILL weed a TV out on the black scale rating. We are talking about dark scenes with people in jet black fine Italian cotton against charcoal grey fine texture walls and limited gradient lighting. And the TV handled all of that beautifully! Blacks were black, details were crisp, heck whites were WHITE. I could even see exactly the clothing everyone was wearing on the scene where the ONLY lighting was the gun flash. On many TVs a lot of the scenes look more like your 7yr faded black T-Shirt. On the Samsung it looks like the day you bought it. According to review sites the LN46B750 (240Mhz) has a much better black scale rating than the LN46B650 (120Mhz) model, and I honestly would pay an extra $200 just for this alone. Thankfully the 240Mhz model also has a better dynamic contrast ratio than the 120Mhz model , which just seals the deal. I don’t even care about the 240Mhz bonus because the difference is minimal – it is the black rating and the contrast ratio I care about.
((( Gaming ))) – Awesome. Some people mention there is a latency/lag issue …I can’t help but wonder if they just have a lemon set or if they are dealing with internet lag or something because I honestly don’t see it. Gaming is my primary hobby, especially internet gaming and I honestly do _NOT_ see any display latency issues what so ever. I wish PCs were this responsive …seriously. As soon as I unpacked the TV, my friend’s kid (teenager) and I played Mortal Kombat vs DC (trust me… any latency issues would have been caught in this game alone), Bioshock, Soul Caliber 3, Burnout: Paradise, Gears of War 2 and Overlord 2. Latency/lag didn’t even enter our thoughts.
ZERO latency issues – uppercuts in MKvsDC were spot on _instant_. Zero flickering. Zero ghosting. Zero shearing. Everything was spot on. Again, I wish my PC monitor was this responsive …but again my PC is dealing with network traffic. So it makes me think the latency people are seeing is when they are playing online and network traffic is the villain, because it sure isn’t the TV’s fault.
((( Sound ))) – Yeah it deserves criticism. You can still watch TV and movies like you would expect – but default settings SUCK. Play around with the equalizer because the default settings are definitely not optimal. After you optimize it, it really isn’t too bad. You may have to beef up the volume a little more than you are used to, but I definitely had to play with the sound. Because this TV gives you the equalizer to adjust settings, I’ll keep the review rating of this TV at 5 Stars …well that and the TV really exceeded my high expectations by a lot.
((( MISC ))) – The menu system does look slick – it is modern looking, functional (love the explanation of each option ) and I like the transparency so you can still see what is showing. Some complain about menu responsiveness. I had to hit the buttons a couple times as well until I started pointing the remote directly at the TV – now that I know I have to aim right at the TV, no issue. It’s not “instant” but it’s nothing I’d complain about. Now Windows is dog slow. My biggest complaint about the menu system is with as many settings that you can change, it would be REALLY nice if you could save custom profiles so you could easily switch between them.
The remote is dorky. Seriously, who designed this waste of plastic? Does it really need this extra appendage of plastic? The remote works and is intuitive. I normally have to hunt down key functional buttons on my remotes even after owning them awhile …so far no complaints on button layout. Though what is usually labeled as “Input” is labeled as “Source” – just fyi. Love this TV. For those who care about decor – the TV is slim and sleek.

Samsung – LN46B750 – Buyer Review

I spent about 6 months reviewing LCD TV’s and narrowed my search down to the Samsung and the Sony XBR. I opted for the Samsung because it was a “little” bit more bearable on costs and the few bucks saved bought me some other tech goodies that I am using in concert with my new Samsung LCD. The XBR isn’t bad though. I just went with my gut after my research. On with the review:
One of the best, and I do mean best, reviews that I’ve ever read was from practical-home-theater-guide dot com. Just an awesome job of a non-biased, objective approach on this unit. Really helped my decision process too.
The Samsung LN46B750 gives you a lot to like, many great features, a wonderful picture that anyone would consider truly amazing. 240hz is the latest ‘buzz’ word for marketing purposes. You can’t see “that much” of a difference with the naked eye versus the 120hz. You can see a huge difference versus the 60hz. The LN46B750 gives you vast controls, unlike many other before. Controls for altering the picture tremendously, as you see fit, or necessary. The TV takes some time to get used to if you’re NOT tech savvy, because there are just many new words or features that probably most people don’t really get into all that much. But, they are features nonetheless and they do help the user control the picture appearance.
The LN46B750 provides yahoo widgets which I thought was really neat. These are programmable to the users likings, you pick which widgets you want, I like the weather, sports, news, stocks, etc. Comes in handy when I’m glued to my couch. NOTE: When connecting to the Internet, via an RJ45 Cat5 or Cat6 Ethernet cable to your wireless router; you’ll have to perhaps turn off the TV and let the connection reintialize to get it to synch. I also definitely prefer the “wired” versus “wireless” approach for using the DLNA and Internet@TV function.
Additionally, if you decide to hook up an Internet ready box like ROKU, or a Blu Ray player, which I did, the wired approach vastly improves speeds. Wireless will only get you so far. Like using your laptop wireless-ly. That’s fine, but with live streaming video from Amazon or NetFlix, you’ll wish you had a wired connection. No pauses, no gaps, no slow speeds, etc, you get the idea.
Having my TV talk to the Internet is way cool. Just seems like it should’ve already been there in this modern day and age. With technology ever changing, it only makes sense to me. Kudo’s on bleeding edge, emerging technologies.
The LN46B750 connects to your home PC, as if your PC was acting like a server. Basically once you connect the PC SHare software, the LN46B750 can retrieve any folder that you’ve elected to share. Music, Video files, Images, pictures, the whole lot. How cool is that?
With Home Networking, this TV will also receive text messages and incoming phone calls from your cell phone (only on SELECTED MODELS). That’s pretty neat too, eh?
Image quality – superb. I think it looks just as good as the LED and can’t see spending the extra bucks on an LED with 240hz, because you’re talking a substantial increase. All for what? Can’t see it.
Now having said that, I believe it’s the B650 model which gives you pretty much the same exact features minus the 240hz , which is something to consider as well.
Roku is really nice on this. I enjoyed the ability to stream from netflix and/or Amazon. With great image quality too. Surprising, coming over a public network (internet).
Deep blacks, what does that mean? Means that the blacks are blacks and not “off-black”. Very accurate natural looking colors, good shadow detail, excellent connectivity options, HDMI, DLNA support, USB 2.0, Anynet, Internet@TV, Yahoo Widgets, 240hz refresh, “ultra-clear panel” screen which truly helped on glare reduction IMHO, makes the Samsung LN46B750 a great purchase for the buyer who wants a top quality product.
Delivery was smooth, as anticipated, no problems there.
All-in-all, if you’re willing to spend about $300 bucks extra for 240hz auto-motion plus, then it’s a great buy. The image you’ll get in your own living room will truly amaze you. Kinda akin to seeing it in the store, but just completely way way better. The stand does swivel on this model. ToC is faint but cool. I prefer it over the red, just my opinion. Red is fine too though. Samsungs only flaw, which I can’t really fault them for, is the sound. The LN46B750 is was not designed to be an AWESOME TV annnnndddd and AWESOME SURROUND SYSTEM. If you’re going to purchase a top quality, state of the art LCD TV, then fork out the extra bucks if you can do it and go get you a 5.1 or 7.1 surround system. Or even a panel bar system, something of the sort. This will truly bring your TV alive and you will only then, get the true experience of a home theater system. Having this TV w/o a surround system is like buying a great looking 57 Chevy, fully re-conditioned, with a 4 banger in it. Please. Do yourself justice and get the surround system to go with it!
I would highly recommend the LN46B750 to anyone. I’ve owned the TV for 1 day and have almost fully mastered it. If I can help or assist anyone with the unit, please feel free to email me at anytime.
Thanks,
dak970@yahoo

Great picture, but a few glaring issues made me decide to return it

If you are seriously consider purchasing this tv, please read this review completely. This is a bit critical in nature, but I hope to provide a balanced review based on my experience with this unit. Depending on what you are looking for, this set may or may not work out well for you.
Just for background context, I mainly watch HD content hooked up via hdmi on my PS3. This includes bluray movies, hd content and some gaming. Regular tv and sd viewing were not as much of a concern to me. I own a 3 year old 26 inch sony lcd, and have also more recently owned a vizio 42 inch xvt, and samsung’s latest 40 inch b550, which is the non 120 or 240hz model of their current lineup, and most recently the 50 inch Panasonic G10, which I purchased after returning this B750 that I am reviewing. I may refer to some of these in the review.
As you will read there are a few major issues I found that made me return. If you feel these wont be a problem for you, this model should work great for you. After all if you are going to pay a little under $1,700 for a tv, one should be completely satisfied with it.
Design
This tv looks beautiful, understated, elegant and simple. It has a very slight touch of gray at the bottom that you can barely notice, and it should complement pretty much any decor in your home. The unit is quite thin at around 3 inches, and I was able to lift and set up the tv myself. Cheaply made screws, almost as bad as ikea used to setup the stand were a bit of a pain to put in and remove when I decided to return the unit. After a correct assembly, the tv still sort of wobbles around and generally doesn’t feel like it is solid on the stand, though it shouldn’t pose any problems. I noticed the same thing on the Samsung B550 by the way. The swivel design works smoothly and easily, and though I didn’t use it at all, I could see how it would come in handy.
Picture Quality and Viewing Experience
The picture quality in general on this unit is gorgeous. Nicely saturated colors and comfortably deep blacks for an lcd. I tested several blurays and they all looked excellent. You will definitely need to dial back the setting to get a more realistic picture, as much of the regular setting have over-cranked saturation, brightness and contrast to impress in stores like best buy. Overall, I can say even the most discerning movie goers and enthusiasts will find it hard to really put down the picture quality itself, though there are definitely better sets out there for the money. The picture was definitely an improvement over the cheaper Samsung B550, but wasn’t drastically better. i think much of the sense of better picture over the b550 was the glossy screen and better motion processing. It supposedly has a better/newer panel (10-bit vs 8-bit) over the b550 and other cheaper model lcd’s. I guess the difference between very good and very very good is a subtle one.
You are given a bevy of picture tweaking options to adjust the picture to your particular room and your eyes. If you are like me, you will fiddle at least a little bit with these, and will switch between settings depending on what you are watching.
The 240hz processing to my eye, and many other reviewers will not provide any visible difference from 120hz. But the manner in which it is implemented is really nice. You can adjust judder and blur separately to get the picture to the way you like it. I felt this worked well, and really helped in the overalls smoothness and motion intense scenes. I had blur at 10 and judder between 3 and 6 depending on what I was watching.
However, this was all marred by a few issues, the worst of which was auto dimming. I had read about this on the led side lit samsungs 6 & 7000 series (which you can also find at your local best buy and amazon as well), but did not know this was included with the b750. Gizmodo did a feature on this for the b7000 with the phrase “avoid!” in the title. Basically, anytime the scene gets dark, the tv will sense that and automatically drop or dim the backlight dramatically to get deeper blacks. The problem is that is happens usually a split second after the scene has already started and it is extremely distracting. It also darkens many bright spots in the picture somewhat, like city lights over a dark sky, or stars in a dark sky. This is very noticeable for example on the Dark Knight bluray. The more I watched, the more annoying it got. The fact that the lcd already does a good job of getting very black without the dimming is what makes it really unnecessary. It also does this while flipping channels on tv, and pretty much anything you watch. There is no way for the consumer to switch this off, as far as I know. I tried everything in the menu, from dynamic contrast to eco mode etc. There might be a more techie way, but I am pretty well versed in tech, and was not able to turn off this distracting feature. It is possible the autodimming wont bother you, but if it sounds like it might, please take note. This was a bit hard to swallow for me, because almost none of the reviews mentioned this on the b750, including cnet. This also may be solved by a future firmware update from samsung, but don’t hold your breath for it. (UPDATE: Apparently this can be fixed from the service menu. However the average consumer should understand that this could potentially void your warranty and mess up your tv. If you are confident though, search some forums online and try to fix this yourself.)
The next issue was what appeared to be slight “clouding” or patches of grey-whitish color on the panel. I didn’t notice at first, but once a few black screens or dark scenes came on, it was both noticeable and distracting. This could be just my specific unit, or a defect. I had read that the b750 was very good in this respect and had a uniform screen, but the whitish patches became very noticeable, and in dark scenes, it looks like there were subtle hints of cloudy patches on top of the screen. I have read that this is a common issue with many lcd’s, so it depends on what you end up with. But you do run the risk of this problem with the b750 or maybe any lcd. Still, my old sony, and the samsung b550 never had this problem, so it was a little disappointing.
Another issue was a thin flickering white/silver line that would flicker on top of the screen right under the bezel during many dark scenes. It was not too noticeable, but enough to become a slight nuisance. This was really obvious on dark knight, and also the Planet Earth bluray during the immersive underwater scenes.
I know the issues of glare on lcd’s has been addressed ad nauseam, but I just thought I should chime in. The screen is pitch black and VERY reflective, to the point of acting like a mirror. I have a room that gets ambient, not direct, sunlight and it was quite distracting during the day. It is rather difficult to see, so you need to crank up the brightness, which helps a bit. The display definitely gets as bright as you need. In the evening, with very dim lighting, it is still possible to see yourself reflected in the tv when it goes black in between scenes. The Samsung B550 (a cheaper tv), has a sort of matte-glossy hybrid display that I thought worked much better when compared to this one. But, the glossy display is partly responsible for the richer color and deeper blacks you get on this unit. Always tradeoffs. If you are ok with glossy screens on tv’s, you will be ok with this one too. P.S. best buy is not a good place to figure out if you are ok with glossy screens. They don’t look the same at home.
Off angle viewing on this unit is just not very good. The moment you move even a little bit away from the sweet spot of the couch right in the center, the blacks start to wash out, and the whole picture starts to look different. Not necessarily terrible, but different. The cheaper B550 had much more consistent viewing angle experience for some reason, I’m not sure why. Basically, if you have 3 or 4 people over for a movie, some will probably be seeing a slightly different picture.
Gaming
Reading several reviews of the b750, some said gaming was too laggy (ie: when you press a button it doesn’t register right away) on the it, some said it was fine, so I had to give it a shot. I felt it was far too much lag to play games well. In other words, you will die or miss more often. You wont know why, you just will. The lag is on a millisecond level, but much of the twitch response in gaming is that way. Your eyes wont really notice that it is lagging, but it is definitely there, and significantly I might add. The “Game” mode does a little to remedy this, but it is still not perfect and the picture a bit harsh in game mode, since you can’t adjust any picture settings. If you are a very casual gamer and are playing games that don’t really require good timing, then the lag wont really bother you. For me, I can’t really recommend it for gaming. For reference, I was playing games like Resistance 2, Little big planet, Street Fighter 2 hd remix, guitar hero etc for testing. The lag is much better, almost nonexistent on the Panasonic G10, which is a plasma. For lcd, I believe the Samsung B750 gives average or maybe below average performance. Strangely, the Samsung B550 for comparison was a little better in my experience and so was my old sony lcd.
User Experience, Menus and extra features
Going with the theme of lag, I have to say Samsung’s menus are extremely slow to respond and laggy. They look ok I suppose, with a blue graphical touch. All menu navigation has extra animations and movements that make them less responsive (reminds me of a Samsung cell phone I used to own). Compared to other tv’s I have used, Samsung menus tend to cover more of the screen, which I feel is also a bit of a minus when you are making adjustments based on what you are watching.
If you are the type to change picture modes often (like movie, vivid, standard etc) depending on what you are watching, you may be a tad annoyed to learn that Samsung removed the picture mode toggle button from the remote, which they have on the cheaper b550, so you have to dig into a submenu just to change the picture mode. The remote is pretty easy to use, but I feel it is not naturally intuitive compared to some other brands, but this may just be personal preference. For example, the context of the tools and menu button seem to change and give you different options depending on what you are doing, and not necessarily in a logical manner.
The picture mode button was replaced with a “content” button that takes you to Samsung’s “content” if you can call it that, in one press. Samsung’s content, is really inane and pretty useless. It’s actually kind of funny. It has recipes, nature sounds, and some random children’s songs. They are all very slow to load and extremely average to poor in quality. You might take a look at it once or twice just to see what it is, but I wouldn’t imagine that anyone would use the features frequently.
The internet widgets by Yahoo! widgets I would say are pretty close to unusable. I don’t factor this much into the review or my decision to return the unit, because I didn’t buy the tv for these features. I used to use Yahoo widgets some years ago on a windows computer, and the were pretty good, so I think it is just a poor implementation. In keeping with the menus, the widgets are extremely slow and unresponsive and feels like a very slow computer using a dial up connection, when you are actually using an expensive new piece of equipment with a broadband connection. For the record you get weather, stocks, flickr etc. No youtube, but it may come soon. For comparison, the Panasonic G10 has a few internet features that are very responsive and easy to use like youtube, weather, stocks, and picasa. All of this could also be improved with a firmware update from samsung.
Content can be played on the tv via plugging in a hard drive or usb stick to the usb port on the side of the tv. This feature was my favorite and has been implemented extremely well. It plays nearly any filetype, including the commonly used but rarely supported mkv format. The picture quality is good, very smooth and best of all it supports subtitles! The subtitle has really nice looking text and you can adjust the size and the sync time of the subtitles. This usb feature really surpassed my expectations and it was really tough to let this one go when I returned the unit. People who download alot of video, especially mkv could potentially buy the B750 just for this feature, its that good. Of course all the picture issues I mentioned before still stand though.
I did not try the dlna networking features, because they didn’t support mac out of the box, and I didn’t have a real interest to try it at the time.
Overall, I would say many things about this tv live up to the positive reviews. Beautiful picture quality and design really shine. But unfortunately I just couldn’t live with the the issues that I noticed
- extremely distracting auto dimming feature that can’t be turned off in the unit i received (trust me, i tried every option in the menus!)
- whitish, cloudy patches that are apparent during dark scenes
- significant gaming lag making most action-oriented games difficult to play
These three were my main issues for returning the unit, the many other things I highlighted just added to my decision though they were not deal breakers (or deal makers for that matter). I feel that if you can live with the issues I highlight you will really like the tv as the picture quality really is excellent. As a side note, I jumped into the plasma world with the Panasonic G10. While it’s not perfect, I feel it worked out much better for me than this particular Samsung and am very happy with it. If you are in the market of this tv, I highly recommend checking out everything that is out there.
Amazon was easy to deal with. The unit arrived on Friday after ordering it Monday morning via Pilot shipping. The Pilot folks did not help me setup the tv as other reviews mentioned. They were in a real hurry to leave the moment they dropped off the tv, but no big deal for me — could be for folks that need more help. When we decided to return, Amazon was cooperative and helped us with the procedure and is already processing the refund. Someone is supposed to come pick up the tv in a day or two. This was my first time ordering such a high ticket item from Amazon, and though it didn’t work out for me this time, I think it is pretty safe to do so.
I gave it 3 stars because the actual picture quality was very good some of the issues could potentially be fixed with a firmware update.
Good luck! I hope this helps you make a decision on this tv. If I had read a review like this, it might have saved me some time. But ultimately you have to see for yourself.

Good performance, okay looks

Up-conversion of standard definition signal is good, much better than a Toshiba LCD.
Picked this over a Sony KDL-46Z5100 because the Sony’s border is narrow on the sides and top, nice, but the bottom is too wide compared to the sides and top. The Samsung looked more consistent, unfortunately the material used for its border is not too good. It doesn’t look completely flat. The surface of the Samsung TV’s border looks wavy.

great image and cool features but also some issues until it broke!!!!!

This is my first hd and I like it a lot but it took some time to get it right and Samsung customer service while friendly and polite is not very knowledgable.
First the positives:
1. the image is beautiful (some people complain of reflective screen and this is true but it does not affect picture at all).
2.The sound is not bad at all (after reading some reviews complaining of the sound I was worried I’d have to use my home theater always but if it is not turned on I think the sound is quite decent).
3. I have an ethernet cable so I connected it to my network and now I can see all my videos, pictures on my pc on the tv without problem.
4. I also used a flash usb to see movies on the tv and the image was decent (not hd probably because of source recording)but I am not sure why the sound was off by a sec (the mouth moves and the sound does not match… maybe a more tech person can tell you what that is…).
Now my issues:
1. My tv kept on having tiling and audio loss. Always when watching Comcast premium channels in Hd and a lot more noticable at night. Called Samsung and they just told me it is Comcast it happens all the time… after 6 times of having comcast come and change everything (box, wires, wires to my house, etc)the issue seems to be under control (it still happens avery now and then but not once an hour as before).
2. Preloaded content: it is sooooo lame!!! Kids stories too simple graphics and too few options. Fitness has only serene sounds??? Cooking has recipes not interactive. Only 1 game! also I tried to download additional content and it says my tv is already full…. I asume there must be a way of using a usb stick… but it is not in the manual….
3. Internet tv (yahoo widgets): are easy to work but there is way too few options available. Also the widgets offered do not match the manual. (for eg. there is supposed to be netflix, showtime… I can’t find them yet and Samsung is not helpful).
4. The manual is really hard is not thorough. First I hate the usb stick as you cannot skip to the page you need so i had to download a pdf version. Even with that stuff like internet tv and pre loaded content is not clear.
5. Samsung customer service is not the most knowledgable which worries me. Let me give you an example of one of one of my many conversations while setting up. I am trying to hook up the optical audio output so I see there is a little movable cover;I called to see what to do with it and the agent after 3 minutes of research tells me well just take it out, so I say it does not come out, are you sure I has to come out? she says after 5 more minutes on hold just take it out with a screwdriver…. I hang up still uneasy to do that and try to just push the optical audio in using the wire and see the cover just turns in by itself without coming out….imagine if I used the screwdriver!!
6. Sounds that comes out of tv is stereo! This is even when you use the optical output!!!! So if you want to have 5.1, 7.1, you have to connect each device straight to hometheater bypassing the tv which is not always feasible (movies on stick memory , movies from pc are all pro logic regardless of souce recording).
I’d like to give an update on my tv after 40 days of owning it.
All of a sudden the tv the screen suddenly turned half blue!!!!!
It happens in all modes (hdmi and component)and while watching calbe, playing wii or dvd…. Samsung is refusing to exchange the tv for new one. They said THEY’LL SET a REPAIR AND SOMEONE IS GOING TO COME TO SEE IT AND THEN ORDER A PIECE TO REPLACE. THEY SAID I’LL BE AT LEAST 30 DAYS THIS WAY.
When I received the tv it got some audio drop and tiling which Samsung attributed to cable; problem got under control and now this…
I asked Samsung to replace my tv as it is clearly a lemon and they refused!!!! They are also not willing to give me anything for the inconvenience. No apologies, no help!!!!!
Luckily Amazon is stepping to the plate and they will be replacing the tv for me. Hope the new one has no troubles. Boy I am glad I purchased from Amazon and not some 3rd party as I would be stuck with a broken tv and waiting 30 days to see if it is fixed….
You might ask why I did not just send the tv back but replaced it and the reason is that when the tv works it is beautiful. I like looking at reviews and everyone raves about this tv plus cnet gave it an excelent review… I am holding on to the hope I got a lemon and next one would be great…
Hope it helps!!!

Coolest TV in the Market

I have been searching a best HDTV in the market. I have read a lot of reviews on different sites and personal visits to best buy stores to have a look at it.
When I was about to buy LN46A750, I have got this model and I was little scared to buy this as it just entered the market. As I have got the $300 off coupon and the trust that I had in Samsung LCD TV, made me to go for this excellent TV.
My friend has a XBR but after seeing this LCD TV, I don’t really like XBR picture quality which once I was thinking to buy. Overall, this is the best purchase that I have ever made on TV.
I had comcast which is too poor in HD channels. So I have switched to DirecTV and it is the best combination that I could get for HD channels.
Pros:
- Crisp pictures
- Internet ready
- Lot of choice to customize based on personal need
- Media Net
- Excellent support for PC to TV
- and a lot more
Cons:
- Lesser Price
)
Highly recommended! Planning to buy one for my brother
Happy viewing!!!

Crisp Picture

Clear, sharp picture and the price was excellent due to a $300 discount. I researched HDTV’s for about 1 year before going to this one. There are some higher pixel TV’s out there but only the very discerning eye will see the difference. They are also $1,000 or more higher in cost and I could not justify that. You will not be disappointed.

Couldn’t have been easier!

The box arrived right on schedule and I was able to get it out of the box and set up by myself. I’m not a techie, either. I just moved and when the cable guy came to connect everything up he was raving about the Samsung LCDs as well and how easy they are to set up on his end. It was just plug and play. I haven’t set up any other peripherals to it or tried it with the computer – just straight TV watching. The price was great too. I compared while I was out furniture shopping and felt very proud of myself that I got such a great price. I would definitely recommend!

Samsung LCD HDTV excellent product

Read reviews of HD tvs, and settled on the Samsung 46″ because of apartment size and unit cost of 52″ screen.
Product has exceeded my expectations, which were high. (I was previously using a Sony XBR.) The larger screen and pixel density produce a large improvement in the quality of movie-viewing on a television, giving you more of the director’s composition for the screen and a greater sense of depth to whatever you’re watching.

Samsung LN46B750 46-Inch is Terrific

This TV is a high quality product with many nice features. I’m glad I got this model instead of the less expensive LN46B650 for a number of reasons. I like the charcoal gray bezel, virtually invisible and the fact that it does NOT have the pointed bottom on the bezel like the LN46B650. It also has the 240 Hz refresh rate as opposed to the 120 Hz for the … 650 model.
I did not realize before buying it that jitter and/or blur could be so significant. Even with the 240 Hz these can occasionally be mildly annoying. Apparently the 240 Hz does not work with all content. I’ve read that it is best to turn it off while watching movies. Of course it’s at its best while watching any fast action sports.
I love the swivel base. This allows the set to be rotated +/- 20 degrees. I use this feature fairly often to get the biggest, nicest picture possible, although the picture still looks fine at large angles with no noticeable reduction in brightness or quality.
The remote control has buttons that can be set to light up for easy night viewing. But the manual says this will notably reduce the battery life of the provided AAA batteries. To take full advantage of this feature without having to worry about repeated battery replacement, I’ve ordered Eneloop AAA rechargeable batteries from Amazon. [Eneloop batteries are absolutely terrific rechargeables. I've been using Eneloop AA's in my Canon digital camera for about a year now. Amazon sells them. There are very good reviews from Amazon customers that provide more testimonials about them.]
I also like the easy ability to plug-in a flash drive in one of the USB ports on the right edge of the set. This allows me to show not only .JPG photos, but also videos I’ve taken with my above mentioned Canon camera.
The `Gallery’ feature has some potential, but right now the provided content is limited, and provides only an initial gee-whiz effect.
Similarly, I’ve not tried to hook-up my PC via a wire, or wirelessly. Other reviewers have noted the limited value of these hookups, so I won’t repeat them here.
The speakers are good, but not great. It is generally possible to improve the sound quality of a program by choosing from the software options: Standard, Movie, Clear Voice, Music, or Custom. The `Custom’ choice allows the user to setup a 5 band equalizer to his/her preference. This is a nice touch, given that many people have less than perfect hearing. Better yet, the sound is much improved when hooked-up to a stereo system; the base is hugely better and makes watching movies with quality sound tracks really enjoyable.
The on-screen manual is, for me, terrible. Samsung does NOT include a printed manual. With all the features this TV has, the manual does need to be studied carefully to understand how to use them. Fortunately, Samsung does provide a PDF version of the manual that can be downloaded from their website and then printed-out. Having a printed manual is not only a lot easier to navigate, but also allow one to write in notations for your own specific use.
Samsung’s `AnyNet’ feature is supposed to be limited for use with only Samsung products. However I hooked-up my Toshiba DVD recorder to the TV and to my pleasant surprise the AnyNet feature works just fine; it allows me to use the Samsung remote to control the DVD recorder (which works pretty-much like a VCR). Another neat feature is that the TV turns on all by itself after I turn on my DVD recorder (the DVD recorder has to begin loading the disc before the TV starts itself up).
The last thing I’ll mention is the care required for the screen, or more specifically the anti-glare coating that’s on it. Samsung provides next to nothing in writing on how to clean the screen. The TV comes with a small microfiber cloth, but the instruction on the bag the cloth comes in only describes how to clean the bezel. I called Samsung and spoke with `Level 1′ tech support about this. He told me that the screen could be cleaned with a lightly dampened, not wet, microfiber cloth. Also, never use anything made out of paper on it; this will surely scratch the anti-glare coating. Stores such as Best Buy sell special cleaners for LCD TV screens. The Samsung tech recommended using `ScreenClean’ or equivalent. I believe ScreenClean is a Monster product. I’ve read the woes of others who have tried to clean their screens. For now, I’m totally avoiding touching it so as to not get any fingerprints on it. When it gets too dusty that it has to be cleaned, I’ll then take my best shot.
I’ve noted some of this TV’s short-comings, but overall it is still a terrific TV and so I do rate it 5 stars. I’ve had this set for about 6 weeks now. Knowing what I now know, if I was in the market for a set of this size I’d buy the same exact Samsung model.

Good delivery and great Samsung HDTV

I took advantage of Amazon’s $400 discount on this LN46B750. Shipping was good but local delivery was to be delayed 1 week due to economy shipping. I picked it up at the airport depot and carton was in perfect condition. Samsung packed the TV wonderfully. I set up the TV easily, adjusted it and all worked perfectly. No problems, no dead pixels, and the images are spectacular. The 1920 x 1080i shows are eye poppers! Bright, consistant brightness, ultra clear picture with no visible blurring or pixelation. Even in bright daytime, the image pops! Plasma has nothing on these new Samsungs! But… I had no idea TV stars had such poor complexions!!!Ha! Sound is a little thin but not an issue. Very satisfied with Samsung and Amazon, indeed.

I switched and I’m glad

Short story version: Did tons of research, starting last Fall–CNET reviews, talking to younger techier folks, visiting stores. reading reviews by owners, checking out bells and whistles on both less and more expensive t.v.’s–Sony, Sharp and Samsung were the top contenders once I decided on LCD. Actually decided to get the LN46B650. Didn’t like the touch of red. Had concern about reflection. Just as I was ready to buy, the LN46B750–touch of charcoal instead of red; matte screen, option for 240hz, great refresh rate. Coupon for $300 from Amazon. Easy to set up. Didn’t need to tweak the settings. Great picture, even from angles, great blacks and whites. Crisp picture. Very happy with it, and with Amazon.

Great deal, quick delivery and arrived in perfect condition

We’ve been waiting for some time to replace our current TV with more up-to-date technology and were thrilled to death to see the offer come through email for the deals on Amazon for big screen TVs – Samsung in particular. We researched the competition and couldn’t find a better deal. Saved a bundle and got free shipping as a Prime customer. We received another $200 off just for showing interest in the items during our research. Reading the reviews written by others that purchased the same or similar unit was a tremendous help in making our decision. We were surprised how quickly it shipped and the carrier was able to bring it a day earlier than expected. They even brought the shipment right into our home. We were somewhat leary about the amount of reflection we would experience as reported by others but it has not been annoying at all. The 46-inch screen is a perfect fit for our room. Looking forward to many pleasant hours of TV enjoyment. We’re holding off on a 5-star rating until we get our HD cable connection. Will update the rating once we’ve had the full experience. We will definitely talk up this experience among family and friends and recommend Amazon again.

I looked around and did so much research that by the time I made my choice the new models came out. I made the leap and have had this TV for a month now and I am very happy with it!
This TV has a pristine clear picture, the best I have seen so far. The sound is average but lets face it when you buy a TV like this chances are you will upgrade to a sweet sound system anyway.
You can tweak this TV every which way too Tuesday, I find it was great right out of the box but being a guy I had to play around with it anyways and if you don’t like it you can reset it right back to where it was out of the box with just a click.
Even being a new model this TV made cnet best 5 HDTVs list and the price I paid for at Amazon could not be beat, and trust me I did try to find a better price.
I got this bad boy five days after I placed my order (a few days early) with the free shipping and the drivers set it up in no time and took the box out for me.
With the money I saved I ended up getting a Blu Ray from Amazon as well and I could not be happier.
If you are thinking about it… just wait for a good price on Amazon and do it!

Great TV! Excellent picture quality

Great TV, no problems so far.
The gloss black finish does get dirty easily and leaves finger prints.
Kinda wishing I would’ve got a 52″ too, but overall I highly recommend it!
